I'm starting to sketch with blue pencils, and that seems to help. I'm not sure what's faster, me re-drawing a dozen times on paper, or me clicking away at the computer. I think I'll keep at it with the blue pencil. It's kind of helping.
This free comic I'm doing for Awesome Storm Justice 41 is killing any momentum that I have for my own comic, but it's only 6 pages, so I should get it done anyways.
It's hard to make time too. I work REALLY LONG HOURS. When the weekend hits, I've got tons of chores to catch up on, and whatever is on my wifes agenda. I'm glad I'm not getting paid, because I would feel even worse for how long this is taking me.
My friend Randy told me that they did a study on 2 groups of artists. One set concentrated on quantity. One just on quality. The best quality came from the quantity, because they got stuff done while the quality people sat around theorizing about perfection and planning.
That, and the Dave Sim articles say the same. Don't get caught in being perfect. Get these thing cranked out. It's a struggle, but I'm sure it will get easier the more I draw from a script.
